Learning, Evaluation and Impact Manager

Hours: 22.5 hours a week

Contract: Fixed term until 31/3/27. Part time (22.5 hours per week). Secondments also welcome. *Further extension subject to funding.

Salary: £35,000 FTE (£21,000 for 22.5 hours per week)

About the role: Learning, Evaluation and Impact Manager

To support the growth of we can move, Active Gloucestershire are offering the opportunity for an exceptional individual to join our team to drive forward the growth and understanding of the impact of our place-based working and wider change we can move is having across Gloucestershire.

We are seeking a Learning, Evaluation and Impact Manager who thrives on relationship building and understands the diverse and creative approaches needed to understand learning in complex systems. Based within our place team, the role will work with colleagues, local and national organisations to unpick the complexities of working across communities and with specific target audiences, to share what works, what doesn’t, the why and the how, whilst supporting our team to capture learning and demonstrate impact throughout their work.

This role provides significant opportunities to work locally within Gloucestershire and also with national partners, some examples of the opportunities you would have from joining our team are below:

  • Be part of a passionate, knowledgeable and collaborative team, where successes are celebrated, and learning is valued as a core way to inform our future work and priorities
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the role physical activity can play in wider health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Understand how to apply approaches such as behaviour change interventions and whole systems thinking, specifically, how they can lead to long term, sustainable change at a micro and macro scale
  • Have the opportunity to work with local and national learning and evaluation specialists, such as Sport England and the National Evaluation and Learning Partnership
  • Gain insight into the role of an established infrastructure organisation working locally and nationally, and gain a deeper understanding of we can move’s work across the county

The role, as our Learning, Evaluation and Impact Manager will provide the lead in embedding key learning and evaluation practices across our place-based business area. You will also be a key member of the wider team, supporting our learning and evaluation external partners to embed a framework of learning, evaluation and measurement across the Active Gloucestershire team.

Day to day, you will work within the place-based team and local priority place communities to understand the work that is happening and the impact that is taking place. You will build local relationships of trust, to understand the barriers and enablers to physical activity within areas of Gloucestershire and work alongside regional and national partners to share how the learning from Gloucestershire can contribute towards wider, national or regional priorities.

You will be fundamental in growing our learning and impact capacity and as part of our Sport England place universal partnership you will work with a range of local and national organisations to do this. The role will involve building relationships and partnerships, project management, demonstrating impact and producing recommendations to inform future decision making whilst considering wider systemic barriers and enablers to activity levels and working in a strengths and asset-based way.

 

Hours and contract term

We are offering the successful candidate the opportunity to join us for an initial fixed term until 31st March 2027 (which may be extended subject to funding) and to work 22.5 hours per week. We offer flexible working arrangements for colleagues to have individual working patterns, structuring their hours across the week in a way which suits their needs. We are also open to secondment applications for this position.
