Welcome to Active Gloucestershire.

Active Gloucestershire is an independent charity with a vision for everyone in Gloucestershire to be active everyday.

We have a key responsibility for increasing physical activity levels across Gloucestershire and are an agent of change, uniting individuals and a huge range of national policy makers and organisations around one of the greatest challenges facing our society today: inactivity.

We want to inspire, connect and enable people in Gloucestershire to get active in a way that works for them, and we want to support those who can help others move more, like activity providers, sports clubs and key partners in the county. We do this through we can move – Gloucestershire’s social movement that brings people together from across the sports and physical activity sector, public sector of voluntary and community sector.

We all work together to help people benefit from a more active lifestyle.

We can move

Co-ordinated by Active Gloucestershire, we can move is a social movement designed to get more people active in the county.

  • About us

Being active should be normal and easy. We look at barriers to being active and use campaigns to encourage people to try something new. We ask people to spot things that need to change and highlight their achievements so that they can inspire and be a champion to others.

  • Our impact

Our work develops by learning from what has and hasn’t worked before. We use independent research, and commission our own. We listen to people and organisations in the county. Our aim is to have a real and measurable impact on the lives of people in Gloucestershire.

  • Our team

Let’s talk! We work with many groups and organisations across Gloucestershire, from schools to networks that support older adults. We also do valuable work helping find funding and assist people and organisaations to change where they live, so that more people can be active.

💚 Mental Health Awareness WeekAs part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re sharing how our team use their wellbeing hour and the simple things that support their mental health.Ida said: “One thing that really helps me feel calmer and less stressed is going for a walk and listening out for birds. I try to identify as many as I can — it helps me switch off from work and makes me feel like an explorer discovering the beauty around us.”✨ Re-discovering familiar places using a different sense can be surprisingly fun — even if you don’t know which bird is which.#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #WellbeingHour #ActiveGloucestershire See MoreSee Less

💚 This Mental Health Awareness Week, our team are sharing how they use their wellbeing hour and what supports their mental health.Louise, our Operations manager said: “As a busy working single parent, I use my wellbeing hour to join a HIIT class at Solace Gym. Taking part in a morning exercise class has a hugely positive impact on my mental health — it helps clear my head, boosts my mood, and sets a positive tone for the day ahead. It gives me more energy and helps me focus, both at work and at home.”✨ What fills her cup:• Quality time with my friends and two children• A bunch of flowers• A good night’s sleep💡 Louise's tip for supporting your mental health:Keeping a gratitude journal — taking a moment each day to reflect on what you’re thankful for can make a real difference.#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #WellbeingHour #ActiveGloucestershire #MoveForMentalHealth #FillYourCup See MoreSee Less
