Chief Executive Officer
Salary: £70k per annum
Hybrid – with offices in Gloucester.
Full time with flexible working

Active Gloucester is a charity that inspires and enables people to improve their lives through physical activity. They are the Active Partnership for Gloucestershire. They believe movement is magic – it has the power to transform lives and bring communities closer together.
The organisational vision is for everyone in Gloucestershire to live healthy and happy lives. This is delivered though we can move – a social movement committed to getting Gloucestershire physically active. As the coordinating body for we can move, Active Gloucestershire works with many partners to promote an active, healthy lifestyle; from community and voluntary groups to schools, local authorities and national organisations such as Sport England.
They are now seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation. This is no ordinary leadership role. As CEO, you’ll be the driving force behind their mission to help Gloucestershire move more. The role is about inspiring, connecting and leading – from shaping strategy to forging partnerships, from nurturing culture to unlocking resources.
The essence of the role is about people, passion and purpose – and making a difference that lasts.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and delivery of their strategy with the Board and team.
- Be a passionate advocate for physical activity across Gloucestershire and beyond.
- Build trusted partnerships across health, education, local government and community sectors.
- Ensure good governance, safeguarding and risk management are always front and centre.
- Secure funding, diversify income and keep them financially resilient.
- Nurture, support and develop a motivated and inclusive team.
We are ideally seeking candidates who :
- Have led at senior level in charity, public or commercial sectors.
- Know how to influence and build trust across systems and sectors.
- Bring strategic thinking, financial know-how and governance savvy.
- Is passionate about equity, inclusion and community-led change.
- Loves working with people – leading, developing and celebrating their success.
- Has an entrepreneurial spark and can spot opportunities to grow our impact.
