After more than seven years with Active Gloucestershire, Chief Executive Tom Beasley has announced he will be stepping down from his role later this year.

Tom joined Active Gloucestershire in 2018 and became CEO in 2020, just as the country entered its first Covid lockdown. During his leadership, the charity has expanded its impact and influence across Gloucestershire, developing a new strategy to make physical activity a priority for the county and securing investment from partners including Sport England and NHS Gloucestershire.

Alongside his role with Active Gloucestershire, Tom has also championed the role of movement in improving health and wellbeing as Vice Chair of the Gloucestershire Health & Wellbeing Board and Integrated Care Partnership. He has also mentored colleagues across the voluntary and community sector, helping to strengthen the wider network of organisations working to support local communities.

Reflecting on his time, Tom said:

“I’m proud of the achievements made during my time at Active Gloucestershire and I’m leaving with many incredible memories. The organisation is in the strongest possible position to continue and build on the strong foundations we’ve laid together, and I look forward to seeing its future impact.”

Chair of Trustees, Emma Owen, added:

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Tom for his leadership and vision. This is an exciting moment for Active Gloucestershire as we begin the search for a new CEO to take us forward into the next chapter of our strategy.”
