Active Gloucestershire to Celebrate Paralympic Handover

Active Gloucestershire is going to celebrate the Paralympic Handover by hosting an event for all the 10 -15talented disabled pupils from each of the six School Sports Partnerships who have been selected from local events that took place between April and July this year.

The celebration will be a 2 hour session at Cheltenham Leisure Centre on the 17th September between 6pm and 8pm. With the SEN Youth Games only a week later, the celebration of the Paralympic Handover will be used to promote Disability sport here in Gloucestershire.

Register Now for the Paralympic Handover Resource!

Team South West and Sport England are keen to promote the Paralympic Handover Resource: http://paralympichandover.london2012.com/

They are trying to encourage as many schools and colleges as possible to register on the site so that they have details for future communications and so they know where activities are taking place. They are particularly keen to increase the number of primary schools registered from Gloucestershire.

To date they have received just over 300 registrations from schools and colleges – collectively these institutions educate over 300,000 pupils and students. Within the South West they have received 54 registrations from primary, secondary, special schools and colleges - 8 of these from Gloucestershire.

Once registered, Team South West will support schools and colleges by alerting local, regional and national media to any activities that they have planned.
