Schools will be aware that the professional development programme for PE & school sport is co-ordinated by the County Council and the School Sports Partnerships. Over 60 CPD courses have been planned for this academic year to be delivered across the county. A full list of these courses can be downloaded from the School and Teachers page on this website or by clicking here.
The courses in the EVENTS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN PE AND SCHOOL SPORT - SEPTEMBER 2008 TO JULY 2009 are those organised by the central PE & School Sport office at Shire Hall and the School Sport Partnerships.
Course Structure - The Action Research Model
Most of the courses will be designed around an ‘action research’ model. This process involves the following stages:
Participants are asked to carry out a task in their school prior to arriving at the
course.
-
Attendance at the course:
Participants attend a course on a given day(s) and are taken through the course content.
Having attended the course participants choose which element(s) they want to pursue through an action plan back in their school, and monitor the impact that this has.
As registers and evaluations from all courses are passed to the Local Delivery Agency (the Local Authority), you may be contacted about 6 months after the course to provide a short report on the impact the course has had – these are referred to as ‘Success Stories’, and these may be put on the PE and School Sport website for other people to refer to. A CPD officer is available to support delegates in preparing their success stories. A template for a success story, and completed success stories can be found at our web pages – www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/pess.
