Supporting others to become more active
Welcome to the Get Up, Get Out, Get Active area for professionals The Government's Legacy Action Plan (LAP) target to get 2 million more adults active by 2012 may be an ambitious target but the major health benefits that would be gained by more people becoming active and the significant cost savings for the NHS make it a target that we must work together to achieve. 'Be Active, Be Healthy: A plan for Getting the Nation Moving' (2009) set out a new framework for the delivery of physical activity aligned with sport for the period leading up to London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and beyond. The strategy tasked County Sport & Physical Activity Partnerships to co-ordinate local programmes and investment to deliver physical activity and active recreation alongside sport. Education and Training - This page is for anyone involved with encouraging physical activity there is information about training for community workers to help people to raise the subject of physical activity and health through to training for fitness instructors who would like to get move involved with health related physical activity. Health Professionals - If you are working with a patient who would benefit from increasing their physical activity but has a medical condition, this link will give you background information about the types of classes that are available, who they are suitable for, where they are available and how to refer.
