CPSU Vetting and Barring

Review of the vetting and barring scheme (VBS)

On 11th February 2011 the UK Government announced the outcomes of its review of the vetting and barring scheme (VBS), the first phase of Sunita Mason's review of the criminal records regime, and the Protection of Freedoms Bill. Together, these set out the Government's intentions for reforming vetting and criminal records arrangements for people working with children and vulnerable adults, whether in a paid or unpaid capacity.

Request for examples/evidence from sports organizations

Whilst a response to the proposed reforms is developed, it is recognised that there are a number of key concerns and issues which need to be addressed at the earliest opportunity. These will ensure that sport can continue to provide a safe and high quality environment for children and vulnerable people with activities delivered by people who are suitably competent, qualified and safe to do so.
