Commissioning
We deliver a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activity programmes are initially delivered by qualified coaches. Each session is play based, child-centred, fun, stimulating and cross curricular. The sessions are planned in consultation with your settings to allow for thematic learning. The coaches provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment so new ideas and activities are developed and children always have the opportunity to be creative. The use of activities such as dance and gymnastics, action songs, rhymes and story telling allows children to become more physically active. Through the physical children are impacting on all areas of learning. Children gain a new self awareness of their bodies' abilities and the confidence to be more active. Training - We can provide a range of training opportunities to support your development. Active Start will support you to:
- create a more confident and capable workforce able to lead activities
- develop new ideas, resources and practical tools in partnership with your setting
- build on or link up with other complimentary programmes including: Start 4 Life, HENRY, Healthy Children's Centres, Extended Services programmes, Family Learning.
Mentoring of staff/parents/volunteers is carried out in each coaching session and time is built into the delivery for this. This will enable the coaches to step down as the lead deliverer and for staff to begin taking over planning and leading the activities. One-off training can be tailored to your settings requirements, this can provided in house through shadowing staff, attending inset days or staff meetings. Be aware that this may bring an additional charge if over your commissioned hours. We link with key partners and can offer sports specific coaching courses, inclusion awareness and other related fields such as Brain Gym and Early reflexes if required.
