Sport England have launched a funding programme open to a wide range of organisations including sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, schools, colleges and universities.
The funding programmes are:
The Sport England Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sport projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. The Innovation Fund will create innovative sporting opportunities enabling existing participants to do more, or to bring sport to those people who currently play sport only occasionally, or not at all.
The overall aim of this £5 million investment programme is to find and nurture genuine breakthroughs that will transform the way community sport looks and feels in the future.
The fund will invest in new ideas and solutions which will reach a whole new audience, and provide better, more exciting opportunities to a wider range of people, some of whom, perhaps, think that sport is not for them. Sport England are running themed rounds with the first of the themes being ‘Women in disadvantaged communities and women caring for children under 16’. Free Swimming capital Modernistaion Programme
Sport England also administers the ‘Free swimming capital Modernistaion Programme’ on behalf of Government. Funding is available for improvements to publicly accessible swimming pools in local authority or maintained school ownership. The Free Swimming Capital Modernisation Programme ( FSCMP ) encourages creative approaches to enhancing swimming facilities and increasing participation in physical activity and sport among the over sixties and under sixteen’s.
