Officiate in Gloucestershire
Whether you are interested in becoming an official or if you already are an official then this is the place to find out more.
Officials are an integral part of sport. Without them, sport, whether played by the country's top teams or by club players, would be very different to the way it is played now. In whatever sport a sports person may perform they ultimately turn to an official for a decision. Officials operate in a multitude of different sports each with their own distinguishing title all doing their individual different things with their own set of laws and rules. They all however have things in common, including the ability to handle many different types of situations, good communication skills and a broad knowledge of health, safety and equity issues. Coachwise offer a great book titled 'An Introduction to Sports Officiating' which has been published in partnership with Sports Official UK (SOUK). To become an official you need to gain a officiating qualification from the National Governing Body of your chosen sport. Click here for a list of NGBs on Sport England’s website.
